Overview
Pig & Poultry Investment Scheme supports the implementation of energy upgrading measures in agricultural and pastoral activities. Furthermore, Better Energy Homes offers grants for insulation of dwellings. Apart from that, under the Energy Efficiency Obligation Scheme-EEOS, every energy supplier has a defined energy efficiency target which it needs to achieve by carrying out energy efficiency projects in the domestic or non-domestic sectors. Excellence in Energy Efficiency Design- EXEED grant scheme offer subsidies to public and private organisation for the design and implementation of energy efficient projects. Finally, Better Energy Communities 2021 is a comprehensive scheme that finances energy efficiency projects in Irish Communities.
Summary of measures
- Pig & Poultry Investment Scheme: Under the Pig & Poultry Investment Scheme, farmers active in that sector can receive support for specific investments i.e., insulation. Pig & Poultry Investment Scheme is part of Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Scheme II (TAMS II), included in the 2014-2020 Rural Development Programme of Ireland.
- Better Energy Homes: Better Energy Homes scheme provides grants for energy upgrades of dwellings. Under this scheme, different categories of insulation can be supported through grants.
- Energy Efficiency Obligation Scheme-EEOS: EEOS obliges energy suppliers to support projects that can deliver energy savings in the domestic and non-domestic sector. Under the scheme, a specific target is assigned to every energy supplier. The supplier should carry out specific actions that could assist in reaching this target. The annual scheme target for the period 2018-2020 was set at 700GWh primary energy reduction per year.
- EXEED Certified Grant Scheme: The Excellence in Energy Efficiency Design- EXEED grant scheme provides grants for the realisation of projects that have the EXEED Certified standard. The EXEED Certification foresees the design, construction, and commissioning energy efficient processes for new investments and major renovations to existing assets.
- Better Energy Communities 2021: Better Energy Communities 2021 is a comprehensive scheme that finances projects in Irish Communities. All project should deliver energy savings to communities (public, buildings, homes and businesses). Applied projects should be community oriented, have a cross-sectoral approach and validate that the project can be sustainably funded.
