Forum

The Clean Energy for EU islands forum is the annual event organised by the Clean energy for EU island secretariat, taking place each year on a different EU island. The forum is a gathering of stakeholders dedicated to advancing the EU's clean energy transition on islands and aiming to support island communities in achieving 30 Renewable Energy Islands by 2030.

Objectives

The main objectives of the forum are to:

  • Enhance visibility for the clean energy transition on islands.
  • Share knowledge on best practices, technological solutions, and opportunities.
  • Promote and support clean energy projects.
  • Facilitate networking, collaboration, and interaction among stakeholders.
  • Strengthen and expand the existing community of clean energy advocates and practitioners.

Event Format and Participation

The forum is designed as a holistic event that promotes interaction and knowledge exchange. It connects grassroots initiatives with high-level political stakeholders from national and EU levels to influence policy agendas and set strategic priorities.

The two-day event, accommodating approximately 150 participants both online and on-site, features plenary sessions, workshops, networking activities and interactive formats such as site visits

These activities are structured to foster in-depth discussions, hands-on learning and direct experiences of island-specific energy solutions.

Overall, the Clean energy for EU islands forum is an important event that supports the clean energy transition on European islands by promoting sustainable practices, fostering community engagement and driving political support for renewable energy initiatives.
