Abbreviated form of legal source(s)

EXEED Grant Scheme Guidelines

Description of support scheme

The Excellence in Energy Efficiency Design- EXEED grant scheme provides grants for the realisation of projects that will acquire the EXEED Certified standard. The EXEED Certification foresees the design, construction, and commissioning energy efficient processes for new investments and major renovations to existing assets.
The main prerequisites for a building to be considered EXEED Certified are the following:
• Have a physical boundary that fully incorporates the system(s)
• Have an energy balance which includes all energy sources, energy use and energy demand
• Encompass all energy services (i.e. desired outcomes requiring energy consumption).

Amount

In general, support of up to EUR 1 million per project is available. Especially for stage 2 projects, support above EUR 500,000 is granted if the cost of renovation is above EUR 0.10/kWh annual primary energy savings and EUR 33/tCO2 reduction (over a 15-year lifetime) is expected to be reached.
The level of support varies upon company size. More specifically:
• Large companies: Stage 1 up to 50%; Stage 2 up to 30%
• Medium companies: Stage 1 up to 60%; Stage 2 up to 40%
• Small companies: Stage 1 up to 70%; Stage 2 up to 50% (ch.4.1 EXEED Grant Scheme Guidelines).

Addressees

Procedure

In general, interested applicants submit an application with all necessary documents. A Letter of Offer is signed and the measures are implemented and after examination, SEAI pays off the grant amount (ch.6 EXEED Grant Scheme Guidelines).
