Overview
The energy efficiency measures currently implemented in Denmark run until 2024. There is a competitive subsidy scheme whereby individual projects are awarded a subsidy for the lowest cost per saved kWh. Additional energy saving requirements have been added to public buildings.
Denmark has not indicated other goals than the Union-wide goal of at least 32.5% by 2030 and a total reduction in greenhouse gas emissions of 70% by 2030.
Summary of measures
- Energy-saving goals for public buildings – All ministries and their associated institutions are required to meet certain energy-saving goals by 2030 and report yearly on their progress to the DEA.
- Competitive subsidies – A series of competitive subsidies for energy totalling 500 mio. DKK (67 mio. EUR) is allocated to projects that show cost-effective methods of saving energy in buildings.
- Subsidies to replace oil burners – 20 mio. DKK (2.7 mio. EUR) will be allocated to a subsidy scheme to replace oil burners with heat pumps in buildings not connected to the gas grid or a district heating system.
