Grid development

Abbreviated form of legal source

  • Law No. 3468/2006
  • GTSC

Procedure

There are two categories of grid development works:
• General grid development works: These are grid reinforcement and development work that are included in the IPTO’s Ten Year Development Plan (2021-2030) or in HEDNO’s Grid Development Plan (2021-2025). Both development plans include among others grid development works that will facilitate the integration of new RES plants, while ensuring system stability.
• Specific grid development woks: These are grid development works necessary to connect one or more RES plant operators to the grid. The Binding Grid Connection Offer (BGCO) specifies the necessary grid development works (art. 11 par. 5 Law No. 3468/2006). IPTO/ HEDNO carries out the necessary grid development works, while the RES plant producer carries the cost. In any case, IPTO/ HEDNO are obliged to take the necessary measures in such a way as to enable the RES plants in planning to be connected to the technically and economically most suitable connection point and to ensure stability criterion “N-1” (ch.8.8-8.9 GTSC).
