This report aims to provide a detailed evaluation of the strategic options for implementing hydrogen vehicles to serve the Municipality of Cres. The recommendations are based on an in-depth analysis of technical, economic, environmental, and operational factors. The results include an assessment of the technologies and infrastructures necessary for the use of hydrogen in vehicles, as well as the regulatory and market conditions specific to the island of Cres.

A crucial aspect considered is the supply of hydrogen for the future FCEVs; Cres may in the future benefit from the hydrogen production of the planned North Adriatic Hydrogen Valley, but in the meantime, it is essential to evaluate the possibility of local green hydrogen production. This local production should meet the consumption profile associated with the mileage of the fleet vehicles, thus ensuring a sustainable and continuous supply at a minimum cost.

The report further assesses technology availability, capital cost, and operability of a FCEV fleet, considering that the adoption of hydrogen vehicles can contribute to more sustainable and efficient mobility, offering practical and applicable solutions for the future of road transport stimulating both the interest in the final use of hydrogen and in local production of green hydrogen satisfying the local demand.
