Electricity Act

Summary

The Electricity Act defines some exemptions from fees and charges for prosumers, making it financially and bureaucratically easier for the owners of micro-installations to benefit from their electricity production for their own use.

Addressees

Micro-producers of electricity.

Requirements and conditions  

Under the Swedish legislation, a prosumer must have consumed more electricity from the grid than they have injected in from their own production (Chapter 4 art 10 Electricity Act).

Tariff structure

Micro-producers with an installation of a maximum capacity of 1,500kW are only subject to the transmission fees that cover the cost of measurement, calculation and reporting for the electricity injected into the, as well as a one-time grid connection fee ((Chapter 4 art 10 Electricity Act).).
Prosumers with a connection current limitation of maximum 63A, producing electricity with a device of maximum 43.5kW is exempted from the input fee.

Geographical limitations

The installations located geographically close to each other or have a joint electricity supply network are regarded as separate installations (Chapter 4 art 10 Electricity Act), which allows for a network of prosumers. This type of energy sharing cannot be done over transmission network.
