One of the key challenges for many islands in the early stages of their energy transition is to gather the relevant information about the current status on the island - identifying the main sources of CO_2 emissions, identifying key stakeholders on the island, understanding the policy context your island works in, and more.
Establishing this baseline ensures you have all the tools at hand to define effective and realistic transition pathways and projects.
This webinar aimed to help island transition teams in establishing the status quo on the island, and to give advice on the next steps. Starting with an introduction based on the experiences from the pilot years of the secretariat and the Islands Transition Handbook, the public then received practical insights and tips from two EU islands which have successfully gone through this process and are now well underway in their energy transition.
Speakers
- Simon de Clercq, Clean energy for EU islands secretariat
- Ricardo Novo, Pantelleria energy transition leader, Italy
- Ugo Toic, Cres & Lošinj energy transition leader, Croatia
