Smart Cities Marketplace Podcast ft. CE4EUIslands - Living in an Island Age

The Smart Cities Marketplace has invited the EU islands secretariat to take part in its podcast series Urban Reverb and to discuss the similarities between the decarbonisation efforts of small and mid-sized cities and those of islands. We explore whether islands can serve as models for the decarbonisation of towns. Additionally, we delve into the support provided by the EU islands secretariat's "30 for 2030" call, the challenges faced by islands and strategies for engaging citizens in the energy transition.

Report: Technical Assistance for Elafiti

After many months working closely with European island stakeholders, the final reports from the first round of Technical Assistance (carried out during 2021 and beginning of 2022) are now available. The EU islands secretariat offered support to European islands to further advance in the clean energy transition, through two calls for applications (Round 1 in April 2021 and Round 2 in March 2022).

Clean Energy Transition Agenda: Chios

The first step towards the development of Chios’ CETA has been the identification of stakeholders on the island followed by the identification of the legal framework and restrictions for the islands’ clean energy transition at a local, national and EU level.
