After many months working closely with European island stakeholders, the final reports from the first round of Technical Assistance (carried out during 2021 and beginning of 2022) are now available. The EU islands secretariat offered support to European islands to further advance in the clean energy transition, through two calls for applications (Round 1 in April 2021 and Round 2 in March 2022).

This report is covering the Technical Assistance provided to the Island of Bere Island, Ireland.

Welcome to the Islands Clean Energy Transition Handbook. This Handbook is an action- oriented guide to help islands navigate the transition toward clean energy. It follows a central methodology (EXPLORE, SHAPE, ACT) to cover ideas and projects in all stages of the clean energy transition. It also provides examples of European islands and includes references to key publications. The EXPLORE part addresses islands that are just starting their clean energy transition.

26 European islands have officially launched their clean energy transition with the support of the European Commission’s Clean Energy for EU Islands Secretariat. 6 islands will develop and publish their clean energy transition agendas by summer 2019, the other 20 islands will do so by summer 2020.
