This Technical Assistance aims to support the electrification of A Illa de Arousa's port and mussel farming activities. The wind potential and solar potential of the island were analysed, indicating that a small-scale wind turbine and ground-mounted solar PV system could generate significant electricity. The future energy consumption of the port was estimated, and different charging profiles for the electrified vessels were created. Using Homer Energy, the energy system of the port was modelled, revealing that a combination of solar PV and battery storage would be financially viable, achieving renewable fractions above 80%. Small-scale wind turbines were found to be less cost-effective compared to solar PV. Three case studies on clean energy transition and management in ports were also provided.
