Subsidy: incentive for the substitution of end-of-life vehicles for new, energy-efficient ones in the Madeira Autonomous Region

The Incentive Programme for the Decommissioning of Vehicles in the Madeira Autonomous Region (PRIAV-RAM, in Portuguese) has been designed to allow for a faster substitution of automobiles that no longer meet today’s energy efficiency standards. The subsidy is granted to candidates who have substituted their 10-year-old, or older vehicles for newer and more efficient ones – both energy and environmental-wise i.e., electric vehicles or electric bikes (art. 6 of Ordinance 129/2021). Applications for the incentive can be submitted until 31st December 2021.

The subsidy constitutes a single amount of EUR 2,500, to be given only once per candidate, both for natural and legal persons (art. 6 of Ordinance 129/2021).

Natural persons who have been residing in the region for more than 183 days by the time they substitute their vehicles for a new one and legal persons whose tax domicile is in the region (art. 3 of Ordinance 129/2021).

Applicants must submit documents attesting to the substitution of their former vehicles for new, more efficient ones via Simplifica online Portal.
