Description of support scheme

Those who produce electricity and are connected to the electricity grid through a connection with a total maximum throughput value of 3*80A are able to make use of net-metering if they have obtained the necessary permits (art. 95(a) in conjunction with art. 95 (c) Electricity Act 1998).
The scheme will be continually phased out from 1 January 2023 until its termination in 2031.
The electricity supplier calculates the electricity consumption from the grid the electricity injected into the gird. The generated electricity can be deducted from the consumed electricity.

Small scale electricity producers, energy companies and the Dutch State.

Procedure

Small scale electricity producers must apply for an offer from grid operators in order to inject electricity into the grid. To use the grid, they must pay a grid use charge (art. 31c Electricity Act 1998).
