Summary
‘Topsector Energie’ is responsible for many innovations for the transition to a sustainable energy system. Within this ‘sector’ the Government offers around 130 million euros each year. It focuses on Innovation contracts with ‘Topconsortia voor Kennis en Innovatie’ (TKI). These TKI’s are responsible for the innovation of their respective energies. The Topsector Energy currently focuses on the following relevant themes:
• Offshore wind
• New gas
• Urban energy
• Energy and industry
• Biobased economy
This scheme builds on private-public cooperation. Contributors may include private companies, universities and R&D institutes. Funding comes at least for 60% from private companies, with a maximum government contribution of 40%.
