Energy efficiency measure (Energy Performance Certificate for buildings)

Abbreviated form of legal source(s)

EPBR

Description of support scheme

Buildings are required to have a valid Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) in order to be sold or rented. A good score is likely to boost the building’s marketability.

Procedure

The EPB assessor inspects the property and calculates the energy use rating of the building. The assessor then issues an EPC. The BRO charges a €75 registration fee for each certificate registration. There is no set fee for an EPC, since every assessor is allowed to set their own price. An EPC is valid for 10 years.
