Description of support scheme

The scheme provides grants for the installation of new PV systems equipped with inverters and, optionally, battery storage facilities. Applicants who have previously received a grant for a similar system since 2010 are ineligible for additional grants under this scheme. Applications are accepted from February 25, 2025, until December 31, 2025, or until funds are exhausted.  

Amount

  1. Option A – PV System with Standard Inverter:
    • 50% of eligible costs, up to a maximum of €2,500 per system (€625/kWp).
  2. Option B – PV System with Hybrid Inverter:
    • 50% of eligible costs, up to a maximum of €3,000 per system (€750/kWp).
  3. Option C – Hybrid Inverter with Battery Storage:
    • 80% of battery storage costs, up to €7,200 (€720/kWh).
    • 80% of hybrid inverter costs, up to €1,800 (€450/kWp).
  4. Option D – Battery Storage Only:
    • 80% of battery storage costs, up to €7,200 (€720/kWh).

Notably, for the first time, Gozo residents can benefit from increased grant coverage of up to 95% for battery storage installations, capped at €8,550.  

Addressees

The scheme is open to private individuals (natural persons) for use on their residential properties and to organizations not engaged in economic activities, other than generating electrical energy from PV systems for communal residences. 

Procedure

The application process is divided into two parts: 

  • Part A: Applicants submit personal details and project information to REWS prior to purchasing and installing the equipment.
  • Part B: After installation and commissioning, applicants provide detailed information about the completed installation.
