Summary

Energy sharing in Italy is defined as a group that produces energy for their own consumption with plants powered by renewable power sources not exceeding 200 kW. To share the produced energy, prosumers can use the existing distribution networks and forms of virtual self-consumption. In addition to a discounted tariff structure, energy sharing qualifies both for Net-Metering (scambio sul posto) and the Tax regulation mechanism (Superbonus 110%).

Addressees

Energy sharing refers to a small group of renewable energy prosumers acting collectively.

Requirements and conditions

A group of prosumers (energy sharing) is composed of at least two prosumer units who act collectively under a private agreement and are located in the same condominium or building. In the case of energy sharing, the RES plant can be owned and/or managed by a third party, provided that the third party remains subject to the instructions above (not main commercial activity).

Tariff structure

Tariffs for energy sharing for the next 20 years are defined as follows;
• a single fee, identified as the sum of the transmission tariff for low voltage users and the higher value of the variable component of the distribution tariff for other low voltage users.
• In the case of groups of renewable energy prosumers who act collectively an additional bonus is envisaged due to the avoided grid losses (variable according to the voltage level and the Hourly Zonal price of electricity); a premium rate for selling excess energy is equal to €100 / MWh for groups of prosumers

Geographical limitations

Prosumers must be located in the same condominium or building.

Financial support

Energy communities can access Net-Metering (scambio sul posto) and the Tax regulation mechanism (Superbonus 110%).
