Description of support scheme
The Programme “Kinoumai Ilektrikia”, initiated in September 2020, aims at promoting e-mobility through the provision of subsidies for the purchase of Electric Vehicles (EVs), hybrid vehicles, electric motorcycles and bicycles. The Programme was open for applications until 31 December 2020. However, a new round of applications is expected to open in 2021.
Amount
The amount of subsidy varies. For natural persons the maximum amount of subsidy is set at EUR 6,000 (EVs or hybrid). For taxis the maximum amount varies between EUR 8,000 (hybrid)- EUR 10,500 (EVs). For enterprises the maximum amount varies between EUR 4,000 (hybrid)- EUR 5,500 (EVs). Especially for enterprises, the cost of leasing may be financed with same sum. However, enterprises are obliged to purchase the vehicle after the end of leasing period. In certain cases, withdrawal of older vehicles is foreseen and provides an additional bonus of EUR 1,000. For electric motorcycles and bicycles, the maximum level of support can reach up to EUR 800 (art.7 par.1 Min. Decision 77472/520).
Addressees
Addressees are natural persons, taxi owners and enterprises (art.4 Min. Decision 77472/520).
Procedure
All applications are done electronically via a special platform. Necessary documents such a (professional) driver’s license, tax declaration and the purchase offer by the car retailer should be attached. The application is checked and a confirmation e-mail is sent to the applicant. Then the applicant can proceed with the purchase of the EV and by submitting the payment receipt, the approved subsidy sum is transferred to the applicant’s bank account (art.12 & art.13 Min. Decision 77472/520).
