Promotion of the Sale of Electric Vehicles

The Environmental Bonus (Umweltbonus) subsidises the acquisition of electric or hydrogen powered vehicles with up to EUR 6,000. The German state and the car manufacturer split the sum. Vehicles that cost more than EUR 65,000 are not eligible for the bonus. It can be applied for until 31st December 2025.

For the purchase of an electric and hydrogen powered vehicle with a price of less than EUR 40,000, the applicant receives € 6,000. For the purchase of an electric and hydrogen powered vehicle with a price between EUR 40,000 and EUR 65,000, the applicant receives € 5,000. For leased vehicles, the amounts vary depending on the leasing contract duration.
For the purchase of a plug-in hybrid vehicle with a price of less than EUR 40,000, the applicant receives € 4,500. For plug-in hybrid vehicles with a price between EUR 40.000 and EUR 65,000, the applicant receives € 3,750.
For leased plug-in hybrid vehicles the amounts vary depending on the leasing contract duration.

Individuals, companies, foundations, corporations, and associations who register a new vehicle and agree to keep the vehicle for at least six months. The recipient of the grant is the applicant.

The application is done through the BAFA. Applicants must submit the receipt and a proof of registration of the vehicle.
