  2. Summary

    Public authorities renovating a public, non-residential building are required to comply with the rules set in § 52 GEG 2020. At least 25 % of their energy demand for heating and cooling must be covered by biogas or at least 15 % from either solar energy, solid or liquid biomass. Alternatively they can use installations for heat recovery, be provided with energy from a CHP (§ 43 GEG 2020) or the municipal heat grid, implement other energy efficiency measures, or install solar thermal installations on the roof (§ 53 GEG 2020). The measures mentioned above may also be combined.

  3. Addressees

    Public authorities owning a non-residential building, in which either the heating installation is replaced or at least 20 % of the outer surface is renovated.

  4. Competent authority

    The public authorities addressed by this law must provide information on the fulfilment of their exemplary roles. The Federal Government shall report on the fulfilment in the climate report.
