Priority to renewable energy

Curtailment

Grid operators are obliged to regulate the feed-in of electricity producing and CHP plants to prevent bottlenecks in the grid, including the upstream grid. They shall however always consider the priority of feeding in electricity from renewable sources, CHPs and mine gas. Grid operators must inform the concerned plant operators without delay on the expected time, scope and duration of the curtailment in a comprehensible way and provide proof of the necessity if asked for within four weeks (§ 14 par. 3 EEG 2021).
