Energy efficiency measure (Energy efficiency Agreement for municipalities)

Description of support scheme

The current voluntary Energy Efficiency Agreement for Municipalities is a programme that Finnish municipalities can voluntarily participate in order to improve their energy efficiency. The agreement aims at meeting the international (mainly EU) energy efficiency goals in the public sector on a voluntary basis, without the need to impose legal obligations on municipalities. Each signatory municipality will agree to a municipality-specific efficiency agreement stipulating their individual measures and goals.
Currently, the Agreement covers a total of 117 municipalities, which are home to approximately 77% of Finland’s residents.
The program will run 2017–2025.
