The Åland Islands are situated in the middle of the Gulf of Botnia and consists of thousands of islands where 60 of them are inhabited. Among these is also the island of Kökar who have their own Clean Energy Transition Agenda in place.

Åland Islands has been an autonumous and demelitarised region of Finland since 1920 with Mariehamn as the capital.
