Description of the process
Corporate legal-fiscal process is a voluntary, not a mandatory process step in Estonia. The TSO Elering issues certificates of origin to electricity producers (upon their request) if they want to prove that electricity was produced by a renewable energy installation or in an efficient CHP process (Art 58, ELTS). However, many smaller renewable energy producers do not request the guarantees of origin to be issued. Furthermore, renewable energy producers who wanted to benefit from the support scheme - premium tariff – that expired at the end of 2020, needed to register their renewable energy installations as eligible for support with the TSO and, after receiving confirmation, apply for the financial support. Both processes can be done fully electronically.
