Venø is a Danish island  and the only island in the municipality of Struer (Central Denmark Region). Distance to the mainland is 256 m. The island is served by municipality owned ferry-service with 44 daily departures. Venø has 80 resident houses and 60 holiday cottages. The main economic activities are a boarding school, farming, seafood production facility, few active craftsmen and tourism.

In mid-2022, the local citizen association began an energy transition project sponsored by the NESOI, Struer Municipality and the energy supplier. The citizens have chosen a strategy with the aim for the island to be self-sufficient with energy. The necessary activities include installing a solar plant, a wind-turbine and battery station serving the island and coming electrical ferry.
