The Clean Energy for EU Islands Secretariat will host a workshop about leveraging the role of local stakeholders for the clean energy transition at EU Regions Week 2019. Experts will come both from islands and the mainland.
The Arousa Island Energy Transition Days focused on exchanging ideas and inspirations for the transition with the local community. The event was organised by Nosa Enerxia S. Coop. Galega, Concello de A Illa de Arousa, Unión Renovables and the island's transition team.
On 24-25 June 2019, the Aran Islands Energy Cooperative and the Clean energy for EU islands secretariat co-organised a capacity-building workshop on the Aran Islands.
The workshop was an opportunity for participants to learn about key topics around the clean energy transition, meet like-minded islanders and stakeholders of the clean energy transition, and have strategic discussions on how to advance the clean energy transition on islands both in Ireland and beyond.

The event will touch on energy efficiency, sustainable mobility and sustainable tourism in Corfu, as well as ways of financing projects and sustainable local entrepreneurship. The Clean Energy for EU Islands Secretariat will introduce its activities and share experiences to date at the event.

This workshop will discuss the challenges of renewable energy in isolated and island power systems and micro-grids, looking into viable combinations with storage solutions.

On 11 April, representatives from the four Spanish islands selected by the Clean Energy for EU Islands Secretariat will kick off their transition discussions in Madrid.
On 8-9 March 2019, the Clean energy for EU islands secretariat organised a two-day workshop and roundtable discussions on the islands of Cres and Lošinj. Through this workshop, the Secretariat supported the local island communities in building their capacity for advancing the transition from the bottom up.
