The Virtual Island Summit 2021

The Virtual Island Summit 2021, organised by Island Innovation, is an online event that aims to provide the same opportunities for the interaction with participants and speaker as an offline conference.

The Summit will cover all 17 of the UN SDGsa in addition to other topics pertinent to island communities. To enable a broad range of vewpoints, speakers and attendees from 100+ island communities including the Arctic, Caribbean, Europe, Indian Ocean, Pacific Islands, South America and beyond will be present at the event. 

World Sustainable Energy Days 2021

The World Sustainable Energy Days 2021 are a three day hybrid (online and offline) event comprised of various conferences on a variety of different topics. 

On-site conference days will take place from 22 - 24 June in Wels, Austria while they can also be attended online. The conferences that are featured in the World Sustainable Energy Days 2021 are: European Pellet Conference, Energy Efficiency Conference, Young Energy Researchers, Energy Efficiency Policy, Innovation Workshops, Industrial Energy Efficiency, Smart E-Mobility.

Clean energy for EU islands Energy Academy

On June 14, the Clean energy for EU islands secretariat organises its first Energy Academy focusing on the island of Cyprus.
This first session will offer the opportunity to familiarise with phase II of the secretariat, discuss the national policy framework for energy transition, and get inspired by other energy projects on the island. The workshop will be an opportunity for participants to meet like-minded islanders and stakeholders of the clean energy transition, and have strategic discussions on how to advance the clean energy transition of Cyprus. 

Clean energy for EU islands forum

The first forum of Phase II of the Clean energy for EU islands secretariat – an initiative of the European Commission – will present practical steps towards the decarbonisation of EU islands and showcase ongoing and completed clean energy projects on islands. The 2-day event will be a knowledge hub on the clean energy transition. It will provide participants with a platform to gain visibility for their clean energy initiatives, to get technical assistance for designing, preparing, and implementing their decarbonisation plans and to gain knowledge on project financing.

 

International Energy Exhibition of Greece

From this year onwards the International Energy Exhibition of Greece is integrated in the organization of the Cretan Energy Conferences. The International Energy Exhibition will be held in Crete from 8 to 10 July.

The exhibition will take place under the patronage of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs & Insular Policy, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and the support of the Region of Crete.

It will provide participants with a platform to gain visibility for their initiatives, to get technical assistance for designing, preparing, and implementing their decarbonisation plans and to get assistance on project funding.

Island Finance Forum 2021 - Investment for Sustainable Development

From April 13th to April 16th, the Island Finance Forum will bring together senior financiers, development partners and regulators to share and exchange expertise on sustainable and inclusive financial structures in island communities.

The Forum aims to highlight the unique financial challenges faced by global island communities and the solutions for sustainable economic recovery and inclusive growth in a post-pandemic world.

Clean Energy for EU Islands Online Forum

Due to the current health and travel situation, this year's edition of the Clean Energy for EU Islands Forum will be held online.

The programme will focus on creating stronger links between the EU institutions and the local actions on the island. Representatives from different institutions will introduce their role in creating the enabling framework for the decarbonisation of EU islands, and island communities will present and discuss their activities with peers and EU representatives.
