On 17 September, the Clean Energy for EU Islands Secretariat is hosting an info day on the Greek island of Kasos, in collaboration with the Kasos Social Cooperative and the Municipality of Kasos.
The info day will include
- a presentation of the island's transition plan and the process of the island's transition supported by local stakeholders
- a presentation of the Clean Energy for EU Islands Initiative by the Hellenic Mediterranean University
- presentations from the Greek islands of Sifnos (one of the Initiative's pilot islands) and Crete (one of the Initiative's pioneering islands)
Kasos is a small island of the Dodecanese Archipelago, located at the south east Aegean Sea, with a permanent population of just over 1,000 inhabitants. Kasos has officially joined the "Clean Energy for EU Islands Initiative" and is currently developing its Energy Transition Agenda with the participation of the island's local stakeholders. The info-day aims to constitute the first action towards the capacity-building on the island with regard to the energy transition and strongly focuses on the local population.
