Following the success of its first edition, the TwInSolar consortium is pleased to announce the second TwInSolar Summer School, scheduled to take place in La Réunion from 18 to 22 November 2024.
This event is designed for researchers at all levels, including postdoctoral researchers and PhD students, who are eager to deepen their knowledge and expertise in solar energy. Participants in this year’s summer school will benefit from high-level lectures delivered by researchers from Fraunhofer ISE, the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), and the University of La Réunion. The agenda will focus on critical topics such as monitoring PV systems performance and solar forecasting. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to visit hybrid power plants and remote PV systems, gaining practical insights into renewable energy technologies.
The CPMR Islands Commission is offering financial support to researchers from universities in its member regions to attend the Summer School. This support includes reimbursement of travel costs up to 1500€. Registration for the Summer School is open until 20th September 2024, but please note that places are limited. With a 1,48 million euros budget, TwInSolar is funded by the European Commission through the Horizon Europe programme. Led by the University of La Reunion, this twinning project aims at bridging the research gaps on solar energy to accelerate the energy transition in La Reunion. Capacity building activities will increase the participation of the University of La Reunion in European research projects. La Reunion’s experience in solar energy represents an inspiring case study for other insular and Outermost regions which might face the same challenges in their energy transition. Through workshops and events, the CPMR Islands Commission and Nexa will ensure the wide dissemination of these best practices at regional and European levels. Through TwInSolar, the CPMR Islands Commission engage alongside its member region, La Reunion, to demonstrate the potential for islands to be pioneers in the green transition, thanks to their commitment in the development of sustainable and renewable sources of energy.
