Clean energy for EU islands forum 2022

Join this year’s #CE4EUIslands forum – the 2-day event that takes place on Rhodes, Greece. “From clean energy vision to clean energy action” is the motto of the Clean energy forum 2022. Be part of the knowledge hub on the EU clean energy transition on islands and meet the #CE4EUislands community.

To follow the live stream (no registration needed!), enter the event platform on 17 May at 10:00 EEST / 09:00 CEST and 18 May from 09:30 EEST / 08:30 CEST. Get insights into practical steps towards the decarbonisation of EU islands and learn more about ongoing and completed clean energy projects on islands.

The European Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson, will welcome you to Rhodes on 17 May 2022. Afterward, we will hear keynotes setting the agenda for the clean energy transition on European islands from: 

  • MEP Tonino Picula - Chair of the SEArica intergroup, European Parliament (Video)
  • Prof. Dr. Chrysi Vitsilaki - Rector University of the Aegean
  • Antonis Kabourakis Mayor of Rhodes (tbc)

As part of the European Year of Youth, we will discuss with students of the University of the Aegean and pupils from Rhodes high schools the energy and climate dilemmas from their perspective. 

The first day of the EU island Forum will be rounded up by a site visit to the GR-Eco-island Halki where their energy transition demonstration sites will be visited. 

The second day of the Forum will focus on ACTION! Workshops covering topics such as the lessons learned from the clean energy transition on European islands, solving the regulatory obstacles for the clean energy transition as well as island testimonials of their clean energy transition will be discussed. 

During the on-site event on Rhodes, there will be a live stream of some plenum lectures online. Please note that only selected agenda points will be streamed. In order to be part of the full programme, we invite you to join us on Rhodes!
