The Clean energy for EU islands secretariat has now published a Technology solutions booklet that provides an overview of energy technologies that are currently commercially available for islands to advance in their clean energy transition. Technologies are grouped per sector: electricity, heating and cooling, transport, and storage. For each technology, a short description is first presented, followed by its pros and cons for its implementation on islands. Finally, island examples are provided to give inspiration and explain how European islands are adopting these technologies in practice. Other solutions that span over several sectors are included at the end; these are: energy efficiency, community energy action, and smart grids. An explanation of each solution is complemented by the latest targets and regulations from the European Commission for all of them. Throughout the booklet, bibliography and links to relevant websites are recommended for those interested in further reading.
