Analysis of noise, shadow flicker and visual influence for the Fejø wind project

This technical note presents results of the preconstruction visual, acoustic and shadow impact of the Fejø wind farm, located on Fejø island, in Denmark. Overall, 4 wind farm configurations were considered, for a total installed capacity of 2 MW. 

The WindPRO modules “PHOTOMONTAGE”, “DECIBEL” and “SHADOW” have been used to assess the wind turbine impact on their environment against the Danish regulations and guidelines. As a result of the analysis: 

  • The acoustic impact is not considered a significant risk for the project and should not result in a noise curtailment mode application.
  • The shadow flicker could present an issue for a single receptor at the position 1. A possible mitigation strategy for this would lie in the installation of a shadow flicker detection system and in curtailment in relevant conditions.
