The Clean energy for EU islands secretariat is launching its next Call for Postcards: Greetings from the Islands and is inviting island residents, municipalities, project developers, photographers, and island enthusiasts from across Europe to take part.
The postcard call celebrates the unique character of Europe's islands and their journeys towards a clean energy future. Participants are encouraged to submit photographs that capture the beauty of island life while showcasing renewable energy projects, sustainable mobility solutions, engaged communities, or inspiring landscapes shaped by the energy transition. The initiative aims to highlight real examples of how islands are leading the way towards climate neutrality and energy resilience.
Selected photographs will be transformed into postcards and featured through the Clean energy for EU islands communication channels. Printed copies will be distributed during the upcoming EU Islands Forum and other events, helping to share inspiring stories from island communities with stakeholders across Europe.
Whether you are a hobby photographer, a local resident, a municipality representative, or simply someone passionate about islands and sustainability, this is an opportunity to showcase your island's clean energy ambitions and share them with the wider EU islands community.
How to participate
Participants are invited to submit:
- A high-resolution photograph illustrating the clean energy transition on an island;
- A short description of the image and the story behind it;
- The completed submission form.
Submission deadline: 16 November
Submit your photo along with the required form and the copyright consent form to info@euislands.eu.
Submissions will be evaluated based on originality, creativity, visual appeal, and their ability to capture the spirit of the clean energy transition on European islands. The secretariat also seeks to ensure broad geographical representation across Europe's island regions.
The selected entries will become part of the next edition of the Greetings from the Islands postcard series, helping to showcase inspiring island stories and achievements across Europe.
