Connection to the grid

Abbreviated form of legal sources

Electricity Act 1998

Procedure

In order to get a plant connected to the grid, the plant operator must first apply to the grid operator. The grid operator then is obliged to make a connection offer (art. 24 (1) Electricity Act). Once the agreement is concluded between grid operator and plant operator, the plant is connected to the grid. Plants shall be connected within a reasonable period of time (art. 23 (3) Electricity Act).

Priority to renewable energy

Non-discrimination
Both in the connection and the setting up of a connection agreement, a non-discrimination rule is applied (art. 23 (2) and art. 24 (3) Electricity Act). There is no priority given for renewable energy plants.
