RES-H building obligations (Building Regulations 2019)

Summary

All new buildings occupied after 31 December 2020 must be Nearly Zero Emissions Buildings- NZEB (S.I. No.292/2019). For non-domestic buildings/ domestic buildings, 20% of primary energy use should be provided by RES (Conservation of Fuel and Energy Dwellings- Building Regulations 2019). Technical specifications are laid down in the Conservation of Fuel and Energy Dwellings- Building Regulations 2019. The Building Energy Rating (BER) Certificate measures the building’s calculated energy use and is obligatory for all buildings. Public buildings (above 250m2) can also issue Display Energy Certificate (DEC) rating is based on the measured actual energy use.
