The 2020 edition of the Clean Energy for EU Islands Forum was held entirely online due to the global health situation at the time. Over four days, the EU islands community came together virtually to exchange knowledge, share progress, and strengthen collaboration on clean energy transitions.
The programme focused on building stronger connections between EU institutions and local island initiatives. Institutional representatives outlined their roles in supporting the decarbonisation of EU islands, while island communities presented their activities and engaged in dialogue with peers and EU stakeholders.
A key element of the forum was the Local Transition Days, where islanders and transition team members met within their communities to reflect on recent developments and share insights with the wider EU islands network.
The final day featured an interactive online session, bringing together ideas and impressions from the previous days, supported by virtual site visits and video content from participating islands.
