Within the technical assistance provided to the 30 for 2030 islands and islands groups, special attention is placed on giving the local teams the tools and knowledge to support them in developing renewable energy and energy efficiency projects. With this objective, the Clean energy for EU islands secretariat is organising a series of 20 workshops over three years to promote capacity building on relevant topics.
This workshop, which focuses on the topic of " Sustainable tourism on small islands ", is part of this series.
During this workshop, we will focus on the challenges and opportunities that tourism brings to islands’ communities and energy systems.
With experts’ insights and moderation, we will try to define what sustainable tourism could look like and what it would take to make it a reality.
Through examples of successful practices and use cases, we will then identify concrete actions to counteract the negative effects of tourist influxes and activities and turn them into opportunities for sustainable development.
